The Colourlock Leather Steering Wheel Restauration Kit Black ND is ideal for refreshing and repairing small scratches and scuffs.

Steering wheels are in daily use. Due to frequent contact with moisture, sunlight & creams they wear out quickly or become greasy. Hand sweat and skin oils are particularly aggressive against the leather. The reason: leather is an open-pored material into which hand perspiration, skin fats and moisture can gradually soak. This makes the leather brittle, the color softens and the leather rubs off. In some cases, cracks even appear as a result of wear.

Directions

Recommended Before Use:Carefully mask off all areas of the steering wheel that are not to be treated with COLOURLOCK Leather Fresh.
1. To cleanse and protect, use the Colourlock Mild Cleanerto one of the enclosed sponges and clean the steering wheel thoroughly. Then, wipe down with the viscose cloth.
2. With a viscose cloth, thoroughly degrease the area with the Entfetter Degreaser3. Smooth out rough areas with the Sanding Pad. The excess sanding dust should then be removed with a cloth.
4. Dab the Leather Fresh Tintcarefully with the sponge apply it to the steering wheel in circular movements. Then allow to dry completely or blow dry. This process can be repeated if necessary.
5. After 24 hours, a thin layer of Elephant Leather Preserver can be applied. It cares for the steering wheel and gives the leather a natural shine. (This step can also be omitted for new steering wheels.)
6. After another 24 hours, put COLOURLOCK Leather Shield on a cloth and apply it gently to the steering wheel to protect the surface from new dirt and abrasions.
* Solvent-free and particularly environmentally friendly

Brought my wheel back to life!

I was looking into getting an entirely new wheel before I saw this kit, and even had quotes from a couple salvage yards to do so but the $150 minimum price tag was just a bit too much to justify such a minor cosmetic fix. I was pretty skeptical about how well this kit would work, but I'm really happy with the results!

I had to do a couple of coats to completely cover the speckles, and the (already faded and stained, see pictures) red stitching on my wheel was also dyed in the process, but the leather looks brand new now! The stitching wasn't much of a loss imo, it now looks like it was supposed to be black and I prefer that, but it is something to be mindful of.

I found it was helpful to review the video provided here by The Rag Company, as most other videos were too long and didn't cover the most relevant details. I also used the elephant leather conditioner and let it soak in for about 3 days, reapplying twice.

As shown in the pictures attached, the results are great. Comparing the finish to my partner's car, which is the same make but a more recent year, my wheel now has a bit more texture than their wheel, but the color and finish is very similar. Even with as many coats as I did, I still have enough product left over to do at least one more application, maybe even more!

It's been almost 2 months since I applied, and the finish is still holding up great. My car is garage kept, and I use a sunshade when I park, so that might be helping preserve the finish, but I…

    Easy and effective

Way easier to use than I expected. Took about 30 min to do several build coats of color and after sanding and buffing, looks good as new

Excellent product for any skill level

This product really brought back the appearance of appearance of the leather on a 2007 4runner I bought used. What they didnt mention is that product restores the feeling of a worn steering wheel to a natural feeling leather, instead of the rock hard vinyl feeling of an uncared for leather acquires over years of neglect.
