Brake dust bakes onto your wheels every time you drive, and regular car wash soap can't keep up. A dedicated wheel cleaner breaks it down so it rinses away without harming your wheel's finish.
How to choose the right wheel cleaner
- P&S Brake Buster Total Wheel Cleaner: a thick, acid-free formula that clings to break down brake dust, road grime, and light corrosion. It also leaves corrosion inhibitors behind to help protect your wheels.
- Koch-Chemie Magic Wheel Cleaner: acid-free and turns red as it reacts with iron particles, so you can see it working.
- Armour Detail Supply Wheel Cleaner: a pH-balanced, high-cling foam with iron removers that changes color as it works. Safe on finishes from chrome to matte.
- Koch-Chemie Alkali Wheel Cleaner: a strong alkaline cleaner for heavy brake dust that cleans like an acid wheel cleaner, without the acid.
- Optimum Power Wheel and Tire Cleaner: acid-free and safe on all wheel types, including sensitive aluminum. It cleans wheels and tires in one step.
Finish the job: tires and protection
Scrub tires with Armour Tire Cleaner to strip old dressing and browning, then finish with a tire dressing like Armour Tire+ or Optimum Opti-Bond Tire Gel. To protect your wheels, Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour coats wheel faces, barrels, and even brake calipers, and handles heat up to 600°C, so brake dust has a harder time sticking.
Pair your wheel cleaner with the right wheel brush to reach the barrel, spokes, and tires safely. See our guide to cleaning your wheels cheaply and quickly, or learn how to ceramic coat your wheels in 30 minutes. Clean your wheels before the paint, as shown in our car wash guide.
