How much Bead Maker is too much?
May 29, 2025
How much of a good thing is too much? Once you find the limit, the law of diminishing returns kicks in and you will get less and less benefit from adding more. But where is the limit for Bead Maker?
P&S Bead Maker is a short-term spray sealant, drying aid, and gloss enhancer that needs a heavy first coat that you supplement with smaller amounts to top up your protection after each wash. It’s literally one of our favorite products to use because it works so well.
Bead Maker lasts for 3 months, but it is good to top up your protection with every wash. The key words here are “top up”. After you have your initial protection, a little goes a long way.
Spraying too much Bead Maker on your car leads to streaking. Bead Maker will have a hard time sticking to too much of itself and will run off. This leads to uneven gloss levels and visible streaks in direct light.
It’s important to note that this can happen when you layer too many different products on top of each other. For example, if you have a ceramic coating on your car and top it off with P&S Defender and want to add another layer of protection with Bead Maker, the Bead Maker isn't going to last or do its job very well. Your best bet is to use one spray sealant at a time.
If your car is ceramic coated, you already have slick protection all over the car, so you don't need a heavy coat of Bead Maker to start. Use it as a drying aid and you should be good to go.
Suppose you use too much and notice a streaky finish. In that case, you can leave it alone for 3 months and let the protection dwindle before reapplying, or you can put some isopropyl alcohol on a soft microfiber towel to knock down some of the protection early.
