Hand Wash vs Tunnel Wash | Which is Faster?
Washing your own car, whether you use a car wash tunnel or do it yourself, is a balancing act of time, effort, cost, and results. So, which one is the best? TRC's own Anthony Fisher teams up with Freddy "Tavarish" to clean a couple of cars to find out.
Our conclusion, cleaning your own car produces better results, causes less damage to your car's clear coat and paint, and (when you have the products at your disposal), each wash is cheaper than the car wash. But, it often takes more time and has a higher upfront cost when you factor in the chemicals, towels, and tools.
Washing your car with a car wash tunnel is faster, but, per wash, it is more expensive. Plus, you have to factor in driving time, line waits, and the fact that your car isn't fully dry or clean. Afterward, you still vacuum your car out and can choose to dry it yourself in the vacuum stall. In the car wash, the slap-happy brushes hold onto other cars' dirt particles and throw them at your car at high speed, which causes marring and scratching.
Overall, it is up to you how you wash your car. Here at The Rag Company, we are here to educate and inform.
